Spain was the most demanded meeting and incentive destination this year, according to global destination and event management company Pacific World, which yesterday revealed the destinations its clients that most interested its clients in 2017.

Spain received approximately 20 percent of requests worldwide, according to Pacific World, which said Barcelona and Madrid were the most requested cities in Spain, although it also witnessed increasing interest in cities such as Malaga and Tenerife. The United Kingdom and France fell behind Spain as the second and third most requested European countries, respectively.

China was the second most popular destination worldwide and the most popular destination in Asia Pacific, cities from which rounded out the remainder of Pacific World's top five: Behind Spain and China in first and second place were Thailand, Indonesia, and Singapore in third, fourth, and fifth places, respectively.

For U.S. customers, who make up most of Pacific World's global business, the top most requested destinations were: Spain, China, the United Kingdom, France, Australia, and Singapore.

Pacific World also provided a glimpse at trends for 2018. Spain will continue to be the top destination in Europe next year, it predicted, followed by Greece and France. China, meanwhile, will persist as the top destination in Asia Pacific, followed by Thailand and Hong Kong. Finally, an emerging destination that will gain ground next year is Peru.
