Janet Tan-Collis, president of the Singapore Association of Convention and Exhibition Organisers and Suppliers (SACEOS) and CEO of East West Planners Singapore, has been honored with its 2017 Chairman's Award, the Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA) announced today.
Presented annually, the prestigious PCMA Chairman's Award recognizes individuals or organizations for their unique achievements and contributions to the business events industry over the previous year.
PCMA said it chose Tan-Collis -- who accepted the award at PCMA's "Convening Leaders" annual meeting in Nashville -- for her "dedication to inspire and mentor the next generation of business event professionals," as well as her "outstanding initiative … to successfully create and deliver the Singapore MICE Challenge."
At the Singapore MICE Challenge, which saw its third edition in July 2017 during the Singapore MICE Forum, teams of students across Singapore majoring in business and events produce a realistic and competitive event proposal in exchange for the chance to win a fully-sponsored trip to "Convening Leaders." For the first time this year, both the first- and second-place teams attended the PCMA meeting, where they presented their event proposals to an audience of industry and media.
"The success of the Singapore MICE Forum and the Challenge is testament to the relationship between SACEOS and PCMA, uniting for the same purpose of investing into education and the future of our industry," said PCMA Board Chair Mary Pat Heftman. "Janet's long-standing experience, her mentorship, and advocacy of industry education and professional development make her the perfect honoree for this year's award."
