As the news swells with headlines about sexual misconduct and gender inequality, the IMEX Group is launching a new event to celebrate the role of women in the meetings industry and foster dialogue about the workplace issues they face, it announced last week.

Called "She Means Business," the new half-day conference will take place on Monday, May 14 as part of EduMonday, an annual day of industry education that takes place immediately prior to the IMEX in Frankfurt trade show, taking place May 15-17 in Frankfurt, Germany.

"It has long been noticeable that whilst women are in the majority in the meetings industry, they are in the minority in leadership positions," reported IMEX Group CEO Carina Bauer (pictured). "We want to play our part in highlighting the challenges that women face, but more importantly helping to introduce solutions. The best way to do this is to bring people together for open conversation, collaboration, and learning."

Organized in partnership with German meetings magazine tw tagungswirtschaft, She Means Business will welcome both male and female event professionals for a program that's set to include both inspirational speakers and interactive conversation about critical issues facing women in the meetings and events sector.

Concluded Bauer, "As an industry we must continue to discuss, ask questions, challenge preconceptions, and push forward for change. It's only by meeting and collaborating that we can make an impact for women in the industry."
