Among meetings-industry groups, the LGBT Meeting Professionals Association (LGBT MPA) is the new kid on the block. It plans to leave its mark on the profession this fall, however, with its first event, it announced last month.

Taking place Nov. 2, 2017, in conjunction with the Community Marketing & Insights (CMI) 18th Conference on LGBT Tourism & Hospitality in San Francisco, the LGBT MPA Professional Workshops + Networking Event will feature educational workshops designed specifically for LGBT meeting professionals. Topics will range from LGBT online marketing to planning LGBT-friendly events to establishing new trans-friendly bathroom rules.

"We provide access to a powerful network of LGBT professionals with experience running large global and national meetings to smaller regional meetings," said LGBT MPA executive director David Jefferys. "Our industry is growing and so are the business opportunities for leadership at all professional levels to impact diversity, innovation, and inclusivity."

Based in Philadelphia, LGBT MPA was established in August 2016 by Jefferys, who is CEO of the Altus Agency, a marketing firm specializing in LGBT travel. For more information about the association or its first event, visit the group's website, www.lgbtmpa.com.
