This year's IMEX America trade show, taking place Oct. 13-15 in Las Vegas, will include a "Play Room" providing a fresh look at meeting planning, organizer the IMEX Group announced this week. The Play Room, it said, will feature "quirkshops" showcasing a variety of tools and techniques in areas such as room design, technology, networking, and teambuilding.

Planners visiting the Play Room will be invited to work with others to learn strategies like human whiteboarding, gamification, humor power, and zen tangles.

Following the same theme, IMEX America also will feature a dedicated "Creative Learning" education track and keynote speeches focused on actionable strategies. Sponsored by Meeting Professionals International (MPI), keynote speakers will include magician Tim David, who will discuss human connection; film director Josh Tickell, who will discuss how to connect with Millennials; and former Nashville songwriter Patrick Henry, who will talk about customer experience and loyalty.

"In a rapidly evolving marketplace, it's essential to stay up to date with the latest trends and develop a fresh approach to planning and hosting meetings," said IMEX Group CEO Carina Bauer. "Our new Play Room is an exciting new addition to IMEX America. When combined with our creative education sessions and the outstanding line up of MPI Keynotes, we hope to provide delegates with the latest business practices which they can take back and apply to their meetings."
