Attendees at its 2013 Annual Conference will be encouraged to develop and enhance their event services skills, according to the Event Service Professionals Association (ESPA), which last week announced "Perfecting the Art of Event Service" as the conference theme.

"In order to exceed our customers' expectations, we need to continuously perfect our service skills through education and networking opportunities," said ESPA President David Dvorak. "Our 2013 Annual Conference is even more special because we will be celebrating how far ESPA has come while providing attendees with an agenda full of engaging and timely industry topics delivered by a host of industry experts and experienced speakers."

Taking place Jan. 11-13 at Walt Disney World in Orlando, the 2013 Annual Conference commemorates ESPA's 25th anniversary. Keynote speakers will be Amy Lynch and Kim Lear of BridgeWorks, a company whose focus is researching and resolving inter-generational clashes, and Allison Melangton, president of the Indiana Sports Corp. Lynch and Lear's session will offer best practices for incorporating Millennials into the hospitality industry workforce while Melangton's address will focus on how to turn service into an "end-product asset."

Other sessions will discuss topics such as catering trends, technologies to provide better service, dos and don'ts of housing, wine-paring, site visits/pre-cons, event "flair," disaster preparedness and corporate social responsibility (CSR).

A highlight of the meeting will be the CSM of the Year Awards, which will be presented by Successful Meetings in recognition of the hard work that convention services managers do to assist meeting planners at resorts, hotels, convention centers and CVBs.
