Making hybrid meetings possible for its members, the Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA) has partnered with video management firm Sonic Foundry to webcast all PCMA conferences and webinars, Sonic Foundry announced last week.

"Our partnership with Sonic Foundry allows meeting industry professionals around the globe who are unable to attend our conferences due to time, location or travel restraints to watch the webcasts whenever and wherever is most convenient for them without missing a beat," said PCMA COO Sherrif Karamat. "Using [Sonic Foundry] will support PCMA with reaching a larger audience for both live events and archived on-demand options catalogued in our online video library."

Using Sonic Foundry's Mediasite platform, PCMA's first broadcast was its "Convening Leaders" annual meeting, which took place Jan. 13-16 in Orlando. During the event, Sonic Foundry captured nearly 100 sessions, some of which were streamed live as part of the hybrid event. Nearly all will be archived for on-demand access by PCMA members.

"The fact that PCMA is increasingly using webcasting to reach larger audiences is validation that hybrid events are growing," said Sonic Foundry Executive Vice President Rob Lipps. "The most influential thinkers in the meetings industry convene at these conferences, and it's necessary to capture, archive and index that information so it can be retrieved and shared in the future. We're pleased PCMA places such a high value on the preservation of knowledge and chose to partner with Sonic Foundry to broaden its reach."
