When attendees are located in different cities, countries and time zones, scheduling events is extremely difficult. Take into account global holidays, and the task becomes even more difficult, according to Carlson Wagonlit Travel (CWT), which says there are only 78 global holiday-free business days throughout the year.

To make it easier to schedule around holidays and time differences, CWT has launched a new mobile app to help meeting planners find the best day and time to hold an international phone call, video conference or face-to-face meeting. Called CWT 78 BizDays, the app was developed in partnership with Michael Segalla, professor of management at the European business school Hautes Études Commerciales (HEC) of Paris, who conducted the "78 days" research cited by CWT.

"Scheduling an international meeting, face-to-face or by conference call, is challenging in today's global environment," Segalla said in a statement. "I found very few common working days available for a meeting after accounting for all typical national and religious holidays observed around the world."

Added CWT Innovation Leader Patrice Simon, "With the explosion of mobile, travelers are using their mobile devices to plan, book and adjust their travel arrangements. In the same way, we are expecting meeting organizers to use mobile devices more and more to plan and organize their international meetings. CWT 78 BizDays can help them do that."

CWT 78 BizDays currently is available on iPad and iPhone from the iTunes apps store. Alternatively, it can also be used on the web at www.cwt78bizdays.com.
