The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas has announced a December 2013 opening for The Chelsea, its new, 40,000-square-foot event and performance space, it reported last week.

According to The Cosmopolitan, The Chelsea will offer meeting planners an “avant-garde” approach to meetings by combining “industrial grit” and “artistic glamour.” Located on the third floor of the resort’s West End tower, the space will feature reclaimed elements and vintage details, as well as contemporary digital displays and plug-and-play A/V.

“The Chelsea is growing our meetings and groups business by offering The Cosmopolitan guests an experience that does not exist today,” The Cosmopolitan CEO John Unwin said in a statement. “The Chelsea is a design-driven, performance space that will surprise clients with both its intimacy and its scale. From the Maya Hayuk art pieces to the industrial metal mesh detail — this is unlike any space that exists today.”

The Chelsea will be able to accommodate more than 3,000 people for product launches, concerts and sporting events; 2,565 people for theater-style general sessions; 900 people for classroom-style events; 750 people for banquets; and 65 10-by-10 booths for exhibitions.
