Famed Colorado resort The Broadmoor has commenced a renovation of its original “Broadmoor West” building in Colorado Springs, Colo., it announced yesterday. Scheduled for completion in May 2014, the renovation encompasses the building’s accommodations, food and beverage outlets, lobby and exterior.

Broadmoor West guest rooms will be redesigned and expanded with an additional 85 to 200 square feet per room. Meanwhile, a three-story addition to the building will add 31 guest rooms and suites, bringing the resort’s total guest room count to 775.

In terms of food and beverage, The Broadmoor’s culinary program will be expanded with a new Italian restaurant that will include a private dining room, a “community” dining table, a wine room, charcuterie and cheese cellars, and an exhibition kitchen. The resort’s Bar Del Lago will be expanded and updated to match the new restaurant.

Finally, the Broadmoor West lobby will be updated with an expanded concierge and front desk area and new décor, while the entry drive and porte-cochere will be refreshed with new exterior work and landscaping.
