Construction will begin midyear on the 252-room Avenue Bellevue InterContinental in Bellevue, Wash., just east of Seattle. The hotel, the brand's first in the Pacific Northwest, will anchor the city's $1 billion multi-use Avenue Bellevue development. BenchmarkNew Link, a global hospitality company, will manage the property, which will open in the third quarter of 2022.
"We are tremendously proud to be part of this visionary project and to welcome InterContinental Hotels into the Benchmark management portfolio," said Alex Cabañas, Benchmark's CEO. "It is thrilling to be part of this thriving global city that is home to some of the world's most innovative technology companies and equally welcoming to new startups and smaller businesses."

Some of the hotel's details are sparse so far -- a full-service spa and fitness center, meeting space and other luxury amenities are promised. As for meeting space, the property will have about 14,600 square feet, spread between two ballrooms (the larger will be 5,265 square feet), two meeting rooms and two boardrooms. The Avenue Bellevue area will feature 85,000 square feet of high-end retail, food and nightlife, and teases a new restaurant from a three-Michelin-star chef.

Building the Avenue Bellevue is local real estate and investment company Fortress Development. "Growing up in Pakistan, my entire world view of luxury was shaped by the InterContinental Hotel in Karachi, which at the time was the country's only five-star hotel," says Andy Lakha, CEO and principal of Fortress. "I am delighted to be able to introduce this revered luxury brand to the Pacific Northwest for the first time."
