Heading to the City of Angels for a conference or convention? These new (and newly renovated) venues and area attractions are equipped to handle groups large and small. Here are the best and newest hotels and hot spots in and around L.A. for events, meetings and entertaining.

New Sights Around L.A.

The Los Angeles Convention Center recently unveiled the largest public art project in the country -- a mural that is more than 400 yards long, hand-painted by over 7,000 people in L.A. County. Called Shaping LA, the work was created by the national nonprofit organization Portraits of Hope.

Displaying the artwork on the convention center truly underscores the significance of the tourism sector on the city in recent times. Tourism generated a record $36.6 billion in economic impact for the city last year alone. As of April 2019, properties representing more than 6,100 guest rooms were being built in Los Angeles and neighboring Long Beach, making it one of the top five markets in the U.S. for new hotel construction.

New Los Angeles Hotels 2019

The Garland, a classic chic North Hollywood hotel, has wrapped up a $1 million renovation of its 5,100-square-foot Garland Ballroom. The main event space at the 257-room luxury property now has enhanced lighting and A/V capabilities, as well as new design elements such as hand-crafted gold ring pendants hanging from the 13-foot ceilings and new doors that improve the flow out onto the hotel's exterior courtyard.

The property has more than 11,000 square feet of event space.

Venues Coming Soon to Los Angeles

Reservations are now being accepted for the 271-room Santa Monica Proper Hotel, which opens June 17. The property will be the first high-end lifestyle hotel to open in Santa Monica in nearly 20 years. Proper promises a rooftop pool, deck and restaurant/bar, as well as the first-ever collaboration between acclaimed chefs Jessica Koslow of Sqirl and Gabriela Camara of Contramar.

The property will have more than 24,000 square feet of event space.

On the Sunset Strip, Montage Hotels & Resorts is building the 149-room luxury Pendry West Hollywood, set to open in 2020. Count on a rooftop pool and bar, plus a live entertainment venue, a bowling alley, a fitness center and a spa.
