The historic Hotel Deca in Seattle is the latest member of its Gemstone Collection, a luxury portfolio of distinctive, handpicked properties in popular U.S. destinations, global hospitality company Benchmark announced yesterday.

Located in Seattle's University District, near the University of Washington, Hotel Deca was designed by architect Robert C. Reamer, whose Art Deco design in its day earned it a spot on the American Institute of Architects' list of the 100 most distinguished buildings in America. Originally opened in 1931, it features 158 guest rooms, a fitness center, a neighborhood restaurant, a café, and 5,500 square feet of meeting space, including seven newly refurbished conference rooms and a grand ballroom for groups of up to 270 guests.

A planned renovation will encompass all accommodations, meeting space, and public areas in 2018, and will add a new rooftop bar showcasing views of the city, bay, and mountains.

"We are delighted to add another distinguished property to our portfolio in the Pacific Northwest," said Benchmark CEO Alex Cabañas. "Hotel Deca joins the renowned Willows Lodge located in Woodinville, in Washington's wine country, as a signature member of the Gemstone Collection."
