Travelers have a lot to look forward to at Walt Disney World Resort, including new attractions at Epcot and a new "Star Wars" theme park. For meeting planners, however, an enhanced Disney experience is already available thanks to improvements at the 2,267-room Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort, the latest of which is a brand-new meeting space.

Located on the Swan side of the resort, the new meeting space -- called the Lake View room -- totals 2,800 square feet and is divided into two rooms via a set of connecting doors. The larger of the two rooms can accommodate groups of up to 277 while the smaller can accommodate groups of up to 119.

Because it has easy outdoor access, the Lake View room is ideal for indoor-outdoor events, according to Disney, which said the space's best feature is its views: Through floor-to-ceiling windows, groups can look out onto the resort's private lake, and to the Dolphin resort on the other side of it.

The opening of the Lake View room comes on the heels of a $5 million renovation of Swan and Dolphin's 329,000 square feet of existing meeting space. Completed in April, the renovation touched every meeting room at both the Swan and the Dolphin sides of the resort.

Improvements don't stop in the meeting rooms: The meeting space renovation is part of a multi-phase, multi-year $140 million redesign project, which also includes the transformation of the Swan Hotel's 758 guest rooms and the Dolphin Hotel's 1,509 guest rooms, not to mention the Dolphin's lobby, which is undergoing a $12 million makeover to update it with contemporary design and new dining and beverage options.

The full renovation project is scheduled for completion in September.
