In 2015, Mayor Greg Fischer embarked
on a "transformational" project that he promised would change downtown Louisville forever. Now, after more than two years of construction
, his vision is becoming a reality with the debut of the Omni Louisville Hotel
, which opened yesterday as part of the massive Center City project: a $300 million plan to expand the city's Fourth Street Live!
entertainment district by redeveloping and revitalizing a block of downtown Louisville's Third Street.
"Over the last two years, we've watched the Omni climb 30 stories into our skyline, while inside the hotel, the Omni team carefully curated every item in this building to reflect our city's culture and personality," Fischer said. "Now, this long-dormant block is a vibrant development -- a catalyst for continued growth and investment in our city."
Located just a block from the Kentucky International Convention Center
, the hotel -- which is the city's tallest hotel -- has 612 guest rooms and more than 20 distinct amenities, including two restaurants, a 20,000-square-foot urban market and food hall, a rooftop pool, a speakeasy with a bowling alley, an art gallery, a spa, a fitness center, and a bourbon retail store and tasting room, among others.
For meetings and events, the hotel offers approximately 70,000 square feet of function space in addition to the 300,000 square feet of exhibit space available at the Kentucky International Convention Center.
"Each Omni property is designed to reflect the local culture of its city and Louisville is no exception," said Robert Rowling, owner and chairman of TRT Holdings Inc., parent company of Omni Hotels & Resorts
. "Louisville is a dynamic, vibrant city with a rich history and unbeatable culture. We've worked hard to make sure Omni Louisville Hotel reflects the city's warmth and hospitality and we're thrilled to welcome all our guests for an unforgettable experience."
Omni Louisville Hotel arrives just in time for groups to enjoy updates at the Kentucky International Convention Center, which is scheduled to complete a significant renovation and expansion project
