Part of the charm of New Orleans is that it's such an old, old city. Fortunately, due to a number of new and improved hotels, visitors can experience The Big Easy's historic culture without staying in outdated accommodations. 

The most recent major update comes courtesy of the JW Marriott New Orleans, which has just completed an extensive renovation encompassing each of its 494 guest rooms, seven suites and public spaces, Marriott International announced yesterday.

Located in the French Quarter, the revamped JW Marriott New Orleans offers an upscale take on classic New Orleans themes. Renovated guest rooms, for instance, feature a calming color palette of whites and grays that's complemented by rich textiles, polished metal and antique mirrors. Meanwhile, carefully curated art makes iconic New Orleans references throughout the hotel, including Mardi Gras crowns and maps of the Bayou.

Other hotel highlights include a bi-level executive lounge, the centerpiece of which is an elegant pool table; a state-of-the-art fitness center; an outdoor saltwater pool; and over 25,700 square feet meeting and event space, including several brand-new spaces on the hotel's eighth floor.
