Iowa has oodles of corn, America's highest concentration of wind turbines, and one of the country's top public universities: the University of Iowa. One thing the state has lacked, however, is an IACC-accredited meeting venue.

That's no longer the case thanks to The Merrill Hotel & Conference Center, which opened last week in Muscatine, IA, and is the only IACC-accredited meeting venue in the state of Iowa.

Located in Muscatine's downtown riverfront area, The Merrill Hotel & Conference Center is named for Stanley Merrill Howe, a lifelong resident and business leader of Muscatine. It has 122 guest rooms, a full-service restaurant and lounge, a saltwater pool, a fitness room and over 12,000 square feet of meeting space, including 16 meeting rooms and a top-floor ballroom that has an outdoor terrace overlooking the Mississippi River.

"The Merrill is just one example of the successes the citizens of this city achieve every single day in this great city. Its purpose is to create a sustainable economic foundation within the downtown that will allow for further growth and development in small businesses within the community," said Jim Howe, son of the hotel's namesake. "We are honored and excited to bring this project to fruition to Muscatine."
