Loews Hotels & Resorts has begun development of a new hotel in Chicago, it announced last week.

Scheduled to open in January 2015 in Chicago's River East neighborhood, the Loews Chicago Hotel will be part of a 52-story tower that also will include 390 luxury residential apartments. It will have 400 guest rooms, a signature restaurant, a spa and fitness center, and an outdoor rooftop swimming pool, not to mention more than 25,000 square feet of meeting space, including multiple outdoor terraces available for functions and events.

"This Chicago property promises to deliver a unique experience for our guests as we expand and grow our brand," said Loews Hotels & Resorts Chairman Jonathan Tisch. "The location, amenities and services will surpass expectations, making the Loews Chicago Hotel one of the most sought after hotels in the area."
