St. Kitts will be home to a new Ritz-Carlton resort in 2021. Set on the island's southeast peninsula, the new resort will face the Caribbean Sea and will have 125 rooms and 25 Ritz-Carlton branded villas and residences, the hospitality brand recently announced. Located in the Eastern Caribbean in the northern Leeward Islands with sister island Nevis, the destination was hit hard by Hurricane Irma last year, but has recovered rapidly. This latest news reflects that the destination is poised for continued recovery and growth. It also follows the opening of the Park Hyatt St. Kitts Christophe Harbour last year.

"We look forward to welcoming the Ritz-Carlton to our shores," said the Lindsay F.P. Grant, minister of tourism, international trade, industry and commerce for the St. Kitts Tourism Authority. "This well-known and highly regarded brand will complement our existing hotel product and add to the mix of accommodations we offer as we continue to target the discerning, experiential traveler."

Among the amenities at the resort will be a spa, several swimming pools, indoor and outdoor dining facilities, and meeting spaces. It will serve as an anchor of a larger development project being planned by The Liamuiga Corporation and Jim Wrightsman of development firm The JSW Group.
