Autograph Collection Hotels
has opened its fourth property in Canada and its first in the province of Alberta, Marriott International
Located at the foothills of the Canadian Rockies in Kananaskis, Alberta, The Kananaskis Mountain Lodge
previously was The Delta Kananaskis. Having undergone a $34 million renovation, it now offers 247 guest rooms, suites, and lofts that layer modern luxury on top of a rugged mountain aesthetic.
"We are delighted for Kananaskis Mountain Lodge to join the Autograph Collection Hotels as our first in Alberta, Canada," said Don Cleary, president of Canada for Marriott International. "With its curated design, rich, local history, and beautiful mountain setting, this hotel perfectly embodies the brand's exactly-like-nothing-else mantra and is a welcome addition the growing global portfolio of more than 135 hotels worldwide."
Ideal for groups and guests that enjoy the outdoors -- nearby activities include hiking, mountain biking, cross-country skiing, skating, and snowshoeing -- the property boasts four redesigned restaurants, a year-round kids club, a renovated indoor/outdoor hot tub, a fitness room, a new water waterpark and expansive playground debuting later this year, and 21 meeting rooms totaling over 18,000 square feet of meeting space (pictured).
Plus, there's also a golf course -- the Kananaskis Country Golf Course -- and a spa: the Kananaskis Nordic Spa, which features four outdoor pools, six steam and sauna cabins, an exfoliation room, a saltwater float pool, heated hammocks, and eight treatment rooms. Both were redone as part of the property's renovations.
Said Ryan Pomeroy, president of Pomeroy Lodging LP, the hotel's owner: "The Kananaskis Mountain Lodge embraces the power of rediscovery and breathtaking beauty. Guests and families will be treated to an authentic escape from the world, nestled among rugged terrain and astonishing views, where business and leisure travelers can reconnect and refocus."
