The Unbound Collection, its collection of "independent" hotels and resorts, has officially arrived in Europe, according to Hyatt Hotels Corp., which today announced the addition of five European properties to The Unbound Collection's ranks.
The Unbound Collection's first European property is Hôtel Martinez (pictured) in Cannes, France. One of the most recognizable hotels on the French Riviera, the property -- which has been closed for renovations -- partially reopened today and is expected to fully reopen on May 5, at which point it will offer 409 guest rooms, a two Michelin star restaurant, a private beach, a spa, and 27,000 square feet of meeting space.

Next up will be Nish Palas in Istanbul. Scheduled to open in summer 2018 in Nisantasi -- one of Istanbul's oldest and most dynamic neighborhoods, which once was a favored destination for Sultans and their hunting parties -- it will have 45 guest rooms modeled after a typical historical Nisantasi apartment, known as a "Palas." It also will have a rooftop venue overlooking the Bosphorus Sea and a fine-dining restaurant specializing in Mediterranean flavors.

Unbound's third European opening will be the Great Scotland Yard Hotel in London. Located inside Great Scotland Yard -- the historic former headquarters of Greater London's Metropolitan Police, which conducted their famous investigation of Jack the Ripper there  -- the hotel is expected to open in the fourth quarter of 2018 with 153 guest rooms.

Also joining the Unbound Collection in the fourth quarter will be Hôtel du Louvre in Paris. Located in the heart of city's cultural district -- near the Musée du Louvre, the Comédie-Française, the Palais Garnier, and Palais Royal -- it is one of the oldest hotels in Paris, dating back to 1855. Currently closed for renovations, it has 177 guest rooms and eight meeting rooms for groups of up to 150 people.

Finally, there's Párisi Udvar Hotel, a new property in Budapest. Located in the Brudern House, a local landmark that's known for its eclectic design, the 110-room hotel will open in the first quarter of 2019.

"The Unbound Collection by Hyatt brand offers tremendous potential for growth in the European market," said Peter Norman, Hyatt's senior vice president of acquisitions and development for Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and Southwest Asia. "This brand enables us to team up with new owners and developers and furthers the foundation they've developed with their individual hotel brands. We also know guests are increasingly seeking authentic and one-of-a-kind experiences and have a desire to stay at properties that have a story to tell while creating new stories of their own, and The Unbound Collection by Hyatt brand caters to this demand."

Hyatt introduced The Unbound Collection in March 2016. The brand currently includes six properties -- in Austin, TX; Phoenix, AZ; Miami Beach, FL; Nashville, TN; Carmelo, Uruguay; and British Columbia, Canada.
