DAY 1: SHOWS, SHOPS AND SEAFOOD

11:00 A.M.

One of D.C.'s many must-do's is a visit to the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts (pictured). The venue's first major expansion, called The Reach, is now under construction on landscaped grounds along the Potomac River and will provide 10 new spaces for the arts and interactive experiences. The expansion opens to the public on Sept. 7 with a free 16-day festival.
