Todd Garofano, president of New York CVB Discover Saratoga, is leaving his post after eight years.
During Garofano's tenure, sales grew 125 percent, with over 98,000 in contracted room nights signed in 2017, compared to just over 43,000 in 2010. Discover Saratoga serviced over 640 groups last year, an increase of almost 280 percent from 2010. The estimated impact of these 640 groups was $67.5 million.

"I am really proud of all that we have accomplished over the last eight years," said Garofano. "We put together a great team and worked hard, raising membership from about 300 member businesses to over 500 this past year. The group sales numbers speak for themselves, and the events we've been able to grow and the new ones we've helped launch have filled need times throughout the calendar."

One of Saratoga's signature events, Chowderfest, has grown steadily under Garofano, with nearly 40,000 visitors this past year compared to an estimated 11,000 in 2010. Discover Saratoga has created events including Toys for Toga, the Saratoga Frozen Springs Pond Hockey Classic, and Saratoga Beer Week under Garofano's leadership, events which have become annual economic drivers in the community.

"We are grateful to have someone of Todd's caliber at the helm for such an extended time. Not only did he grow our convention business by leaps and bounds, he has a terrific sales team in place to insure continued prosperity," said Cindy Hollowood, chairperson of Discover Saratoga's board of directors and general manager of Holiday Inn Saratoga Springs. "He is well known and regarded throughout the Northeast in meetings and convention circles and undoubtedly will be a hard act to follow."

Garofano's last day is April 6.

"I feel really good about the future for Saratoga and the surrounding region," he said. "There is so much to be excited about and look forward to. Knowing that, this was the right time for me to step out and take on the next challenge in my career."
