TripAdvisor's Travelers Choice Awards recognize users' favorite destinations, dining spots, and activities. These were the 10 most-loved beaches in the United States in 2012.
1. Saint Pete Beach
This Florida beach has something for everyone: immaculate white sand, sweeping vistas, and a variety of marine wildlife.
2. Miami Beach
This Florida beach is equally good for people-watching and swimming.
3. Myrtle Beach
South Carolina's number one beach destination is great for swimming, and also boasts quite a few family attractions nearby.
4. Virginia Beach
The boardwalk isn't the only draw at this mid-Atlantic gem -- it's a great place for sea kayaking and hiking as well as swimming and catching some rays.
Pick a beach, any beach! If surfing isn't your thing, don't despair. Swimming, kayaking, snorkeling, outrigger canoeing are also popular activities.
6. Daytona Beach
After a significant face-lift Daytona Beach is drawing quite a few visitors.
7. Fort Lauderdale
The beaches of Four Lauderdale are known for having great swimming, but there's also a lively dining scene in this Florida city.

9. San Diego
Coronado Beach is a local favorite, but San Diego has plenty of other beaches for snorkeling, swimming, and sunbathing.
10. Key West
Key West is known more for its nightlife than its pristine beaches, but the fishing is unbeatable.
