In May, The Abbey Resort & AVANI Spa in Lake Geneva, Wis., will complete the final phase of a $50 million renovation in honor of its 50th birthday, it announced last week.

While earlier phases of the renovation focused on updates to the resort’s guest rooms, lobby and spa, the final phase encompasses its meeting spaces, which will be outfitted with new carpeting, wall treatments, window coverings and furnishings.

“With 40,000 square feet of flexible indoor/outdoor meeting space, The Abbey Resort has been welcoming groups for 50 years,” says General Manager David Lindelow. “The resort’s renovation gives the entire property a more contemporary look and feel allowing us to continue the tradition of stellar service, outstanding facilities and a prime lakefront location for meetings and events for many years to come.”

The Abbey also is in the midst of exterior renovations that will update its major outdoor focal points to make the resort more aesthetically pleasing. Elements of the property’s signature A-frame, for instance, will be added at varying scales throughout the resort, including at significant entrances such as the Waterfront Restaurant, the AVANI Spa and the harbor side entrance.

“This will enhance spaces meeting planners use for outside events such as cocktail parties, dinner and team building activities,” reads a news release from the resort.
