The James New York Opens in Soho
September 7, 2010
The James hotel of Chicago has opened its second property, The James New York, in Manhattan's chic Soho neighborhood, it announced last week. The art-themed hotel, which has a curated art collection showcasing work from both local and international artists, has 114 guest rooms and an unspecified amount of meeting space.
"The stylish and culturally rich neighborhood of Soho is the ideal home for The James New York, providing a perfect backdrop for the brand's artful blend of exquisite hand-crafted design, seamlessly intuitive service and personalized comfort," said Brooke Barrett, co-CEO of Denihan Hospitality Group, owners and operators of The James brand.
Like the Chicago original, The James New York is pet-friendly and features residentially-styled guest rooms and luxury amenities, including a fully-equipped gym, organic beauty products, state-of-the-art in-room audio technology and, for green hotel guests, complimentary bicycles or use of the hotel's Lexus RX 400 hybrid vehicle.
Although details are sparse, the hotel's public spaces reportedly include The Sky Lobby, a third-floor, glass-walled welcome and reception area; an urban garden that includes grass and botanicals; an outdoor bar and restaurant, which is scheduled to open in spring 2011; an indoor/outdoor special events and meeting room featuring a private entrance, video conferencing capabilities and in-room private dining; and a rooftop pool deck featuring city views and an all-seasons bar and lounge.
