Conrad Hotels & Resorts, Hilton Worldwide's global luxury brand, will open a new hotel in New York's Financial District in fall 2011, it announced last month. The new hotel, The Conrad New York, will be the brand's fifth U.S. property and the first Conrad hotel in New York City.

"The Conrad New York marks the brand's entry into Manhattan and is an important strategic milestone for us as we continue to grow this brand," said John T. A. Vanderslice, Hilton's global head of luxury and lifestyle brands. "The Conrad New York will provide an impeccable luxury experience to the most discerning business and leisure travelers. As we continue to strategically grow the Conrad brand, we seek only the world's most desirable locations, and New York City is certainly one of the most desirable."

Headquartered in the United Kingdom, Conrad Hotels — the philosophy of which is "The Luxury of Being Yourself" — was launched in 1982 as a network of luxury hotels and resorts in the world's major business and tourism capitals and top resort destinations. Today, it has more than 15 properties worldwide, with at least 10 more scheduled to open in 2010, 2011 and 2012.

Upon opening in the fourth quarter of 2011, The Conrad New York will feature 463 guest rooms and more than 17,000 square feet of meeting space, including a 6,000-square-foot grand ballroom for groups of up to 600.

The Conrad New York joins existing U.S. Conrad properties in Miami, Chicago, Indianapolis and San Juan, Puerto Rico.
