Worldhotels Eyes More Meetings, Partners with StarCite

Hoping to increase member properties' meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions business, Worldhotels — an international membership organization for independent hotels — has partnered with meetings technology company StarCite, the companies announced last week. Under the terms of the new partnership, Worldhotels' properties will increase their brand awareness with "strategic positioning" and "enhanced content" in the StarCite Supplier Marketplace, StarCite's supplier directory for meeting planners.

"We are extremely pleased to partner with StarCite to provide a new source of revenue for our participating properties," said Paulo Salvador, global vice president of marketing and sales at Worldhotels. "Corporate group business is an important revenue stream for our hotels and StarCite's online platform is an important leverage to take our meeting segment to the next level."
In addition to marketing themselves via the StarCite Supplier Marketplace, Worldhotels' properties will receive RFPs from the meeting professionals who use it.
"Partnering with Worldhotels will allow us to significantly expand our Supplier Marketplace and provide more options for professional meeting planners looking for unique venues to host events worldwide," said JR Sherman, senior vice president and senior general manager of the Business Solutions division at Active Network, a cloud computing software company that recently acquired StarCite. "Through StarCite's innovative meetings and events sourcing technology, we can provide Worldhotels' properties a host of programs to market their properties to prospective customers."
Currently, Worldhotels' members include nearly 500 independent hotels in 250 destinations and 65 countries who pay membership dues in exchange for access to group sales, marketing, training and e-commerce opportunities. For more information, visit www.worldhotels.com.
