Embattled BP CEO Tony Hayward canceled a scheduled appearance at an oil conference in London, citing his commitment to the Gulf oil spill recovery effort, the Associated Press reports. Hayward was to give the keynote speech at the World National Oil Companies Congress, an annual gathering of oil executives from across the globe about the global responsibilities of international oil companies. Hayward will be replaced as keynote speaker by his deputy, BP chief of staff Steve Westwell.
