American Express Launches 'Meetings Month'
July 28, 2009
American Express Business Travel last week announced the start of "Meetings Month," a month-long online event aimed at providing insight and advice on managing meetings programs and delivering return-on-investment in meetings spend.
"Meetings continue to be a vast area of savings opportunities," said Issa Jouaneh, American Express Business Travel's vice president of strategic meetings management. "Meetings Month on btX provides access to knowledgeable strategic meetings management experts who can offer advice on effectively managing the area of spend, as well as provide resources that unveil new opportunities to drive substantial cost-savings."
Hosted on businesstravelconneXion.com (btX), American Express Business Travel's online corporate travel community, Meetings Month commences tomorrow, July 29, with a live interactive chat entitled "To Meet or Not to Meet - ROI Is the Question." Featuring Chris Gala, vice president of marketing at Maritz; John Arenas, chairman and CEO of Worktopia; Ron Naples, adjunct professor at New York University's Tisch Center for Hospitality, Tourism and Sports Management; and Tamara Gordon, global travel and meetings director for UnitedHealth Group, the chat will focus on the ROI of meetings.
Other Meetings Month highlights include the debut of a National Business Travel Association whitepaper detailing how to develop a strategic meetings management program; the launch by American Express Business Travel's Green Meetings Group of a best practices forum where planners can share green meetings tips, solutions and ideas; and the introduction of community blogs where meeting planners can discuss industry trends.
